GACKT, 『Deadpool』 SM Scene a Favourite

On the 26th, musician GACKT attended the movie premiere for 『Deadpool』 at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills, and having watched the movie before, he highlighted an SM scene.

It is an action movie where Marvel comics’ irresponsible and self-centered hero, Deadpool, is the main character. The main character (Ryan Reynolds) has a mouth full of jokes and goes on a spree of violence with extraordinary healing abilities and an immortal body which he received through human body modifications.

With regards to Deadpool, GACKT showed a side of him that lives Marvel heroes, saying 「I loved him when he appeared in 『Wolverine: X-MEN ZERO』, so I’ve been waiting for this to be released」. He then praised it, saying 「Because American heroes are rarely approached in this manner, it felt like we finally arrived at this phase. In terms of dark heroes we have Batman and such but, he’s (Deadpool) not anything like that, he’s a brainless hero. But he’s strong y’know」.

Next, when asked about the most impressionable scene from the joke-filled movie, he surprised the venue by mentioning an unexpected scene, 「There are SM lines in it. He ended up on all fours right, I like that part quite a lot. Because it happened despite that he’s a hero, I’m quite into it」.

At the event, Creepy Nuts (R-Shitei & DJ Matsunaga) performed a freestyle rap, and husband and wife, Miles and Lauren Mikolas, along with Takano Tomomi appeared as guests at the venue.（Reporting ・Text: Nakamura Yoshinobu）

「A laughing fit during the SM scene」　On the 26th, singer GACKT (42) appeared at the film event for the movie 「Deadpool」(in theatres June 1) held in Tokyo.

With a self-centered hero as the main character, it was ranked the number 1 box office movie in 120 countries around the world. Based off comics from American company Marvel, GACKT has been waiting for it to be turned into a movie, and said 「It finally became a film. I’ve watched the English version, and I like the SM lines. Even though he’s a hero, he was on all fours… I got into quite the laughing fit. He’s a brainless hero. But he’s strong isn’t he」, sharing the charm of the movie. Professional baseballer, Yomiuri Giants pitcher Miles Mikolas (27) and his wife Lauren (28) also made an appearance.

GACKT 「I'd hate for Japan to seem like a boring country」 Passionate about 『Deadpool』's charm

Artiste GACKT appeared at the 『Deadpool』 movie premiere event on May 26, and introduced the charms of the movie.

『Deadpool』 is a movie about a hero who isn’t the conventional hero from American comics; he fights not for peace, but for his own vengeance and to reunite with his girlfriend. The protagonist with late-stage cancer, gets mutated by a dodgy organisation, and gains invulnerability powers while leaving him horribly disfigured, he then fights the dodgy organisation.

The movie premiered in the States on February 12 (local time), and gathered USD135 million at the weekend box office, surpassing 『Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith』 and 『Avatar』, and becoming the best opening performance for Twentieth Century Fox Films. In addition, it was a hot topic and became a global box office number one.

GACKT-san, who has been waiting for this movie, said 「Because there’s never been such a hero with such an approach, it made me feel 『Ah finally!』」, revealing his feelings about it. As he had already watched the English version, he commented about his impression on it, saying 「It’s crazy. I’ve always thought that this movie, when brought to Japan, should be able to pass as an R-15 film but, its black (humour)」.

「Our eyes tend to be drawn to flashy action but, here the main players are often in the small details, so it makes you wonder exactly how many people have been injured?」he said, and then added on with the unique perspective that only GACKT-san has, 「When watching with that perspective, I feel like you can even watch it 2 or 3 times」he said, suggesting one way to enjoy the movie.

At the end of the event, GACKT-san, who was holding onto the mike, mentioned that it’s a hit around the world, saying 「Around the world it’s setting a lot of box office records」. Following that, he said 「So if it isn’t able to set a record in Japan… I feel that I'd hate for Japan to seem like a boring country so… if everyone would spread the word around, it’ll make me happy」.

The rapper and DJ unit Creepy Nuts (R-Shitei & DJ Matsunaga) were also present at the event. A red carpet event was also held, with model and pro-boxer Takano Tomomi, and Yomiuri Giants’ Miles Mikolas and his wife Lauren making an appearance as well.

The movie 『Deadpool』 opens in theatres from June 1 (Wed).

『Deadpool』 GACKT Praises the Action in “Deadpool” 「The extreme martial arts are amazing」

The Japan premiere for the movie 『Deadpool』 was held on the 26th in Tokyo’s TOHO Cinema Roppongi Hills. Guests who took to the stage were GACKT and hiphop unit Creepy Nuts (R-Shitei & DJ Matsunaga).

This is an action movie featuring the unique hero, Deadpool, who first appeared in 『Wolverine：X-MEN ZERO』, as the main character. The movie follows sharp tongued, self-centred, and unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool, as he battles an evil organisation. After being diagnosed with late-stage cancer, special forces mercenary, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) became the subject of terrible human experimentation which arms him with phenomenal healing abilities.

During the stage event that was held before the premiere stage greeting, a special performance was unveiled by Creepy Nuts’ R-Shitei & DJ Matsunaga and dancers, who were led by “I~” Deadpool. While R-Shitei was nimbly rapping, Deadpool mischievously joined in, and the venue was filled with excitement.

Next, during the premiere stage greeting that was eagerly-awaited for by fans covered in Deadpool merchandise or dressed in cosplay, while the venue was filled with excitement, GACKT appeared amidst cheers. GACKT, who is a big fan of deadpool, commented 「Because I’ve liked Deadpool since 『Wolverine：X-MEN ZERO』, I’ve been waiting for a standalone film like this for a long time. I’ve watched the English version, and it’s crazy」.

Adding on, he shared his opinion on the film, saying 「I’ve always thought that this movie, when brought to Japan, should be able to pass as an R-15 film. There’s a lot of black humor, and I can’t really say much but, I really like the story of the Avocado」. With regards to the flashy action scenes from the Marvel movie, he said 「Aren’t they amazing? It’s a completely different approach as compared to what has been done thus far. Looking at it from a professional’s perspective, it was done with something like “extreme martial arts”, and it fascinated me with the variety of techniques. Movies rarely use bold moves but, this one’s filled with it」, and praised the action scenes, saying 「It’s often well incorporated into movies. Our eyes tend to be drawn to flashy action but, here the main players are often in the small details, and you can even watch it with the question of 『so how many people were injured』, and watch it 2 or 3 times」.

Also, with regards to Deadpool, who is also called the “shitty irresponsible hero”, he highlighted 「I was in a laughing fit. Because there’s never been such a hero with such an approach, it made me think 『Ah finally!』. In Hollywood, there are more and more movies that are comic book adaptations, it’s also creating a pattern. Instead of a dark hero, they have a brainless hero. But he’s strong! That makes it a new approach」.

At the end, in hopes for the movie to be a big success, they cut the kagami mochi. The invited guests who appeared on the red carpet were, Yomiuri Giants’ Miles Mikolas and his wife Lauren, female pro-boxer Takano Tomomi.

The movie 『Deadpool』 will go on a nationwide roadshow from 1 June in TOHO Theatre
