On the 15th, actor-singer GACKT became the first customer of the 『NesCafe Dolce Gusto DROP Future Cafe』 Opening Event held at Shinjuku, Tokyo's NesCafe Shinjuku.

Nestle Japan has launched their 『NesCafe Dolce Gusto DROP』 and they will be operating a limited time only cafe. The futuristic cafe, which will have “robots from the future” playing an active part, will be open for a limited time from the 16th to 23rd. Drones and projection mapping will be used as products which give a futuristic feel.

GACKT appeared in black leather pants and jacket. About the 『Future Cafe』, GACKT said 「I am tentatively excited 」, he was also deeply curious about Dolce Gusto drones flying around inside and divulged a smile at the projection mapping involved.

On this day as well, GACKT, known as “the man who knows the difference”, said about its performance 「Coffee made from beans that have oxidised don't taste good. I feel that it is important that you should always be able to drink coffee in its fresh state. For the 『Dolce Gusto』, I think there's a lot to experience but, the aroma is great, and the coffee holds a sustained distinct aroma 」. 「After I started brewing my own coffee, I came to realise that coffee has such differences. In the near future, it may even be possible to provide even fresher (coffee) in an even better form. If robots or machines can provide more delicious (coffee), human's have to have exceptional skills so as to not lose out」 he said along with his theory.

At the event, the emotion-sensitive personal robot, Pepper, which has been serving customers at the cafe since February this year, also appeared. When Pepper said 「It is an honor to meet you 」, GACKT responded in a friendly manner 「Nice to meet you. If it were a little taller it would be easier to talk to though」. Pepper then said 「Between me and Dolce Gusto DROP, which do you like better? 」, raising a difficult question to answer. GACKT the pointed at Dolce Gusto DROP and made his selection 「This one I guess. The design is good, and its cute too 」. To this, Pepper expressed shock in its reply but, at one point it stopped engaging in conversation, making GACKT say 「Listen to what others are saying（laughs）」. It looked like he had fun with the exchange.

Incidentally, that day's event was coffee-related but, GACKT confessed 「In the past I couldn't drink coffee 」. 「When I went to France, everyone was drinking coffee and I thought they looked very adult-like, then I started practicing everyday. I'm finally able to drink it after these 5 years, it feels like I've finally become one of the adults」 he said, recalling the episode. With repeated questions from the press, he said 「I say I couldn't drink it but it was more like I wasn't good at it. No matter what I couldn't find it delicious 」. Apparently his start was not that great.

When the reporters threw him yet another question 「What if someone you loved made a cup of coffee for you when you wake up in the morning? 」, he keenly replied 「That would be bliss. It would be nice if I had such a girlfriend」. He then continued with a bitter laugh 「There are many people who have gotten married but, don't you think that there aren't many people who can express that partnership well.For example, if they wake up a little earlier to prepare coffee, such actions will increase the girl's points. As men are simple, don't you think that it's important to know how to control them by knowing which points to push at. Wouldn't it be nice to have such a woman who can make simple men strive and work harder. It's not easy to find one」.

「In any case, come and experience it, feel what the future could be like, try and taste what the flavours are like. What we cannot convey via the internet, capture it with the senses of your own taste buds. That's what's most important」, he appealed.

Nestle's Limited Period Cafe at Shinjuku, Tokyo Opens with Pepper Serving Guests and Drones Flying

Nestle Japan has opened「NesCafe Dolce Gusto DROP Future Cafe」, dubbed the limited time cafe, at Shinjuku, Tokyo's 「NesCafe Shinjuku」 from 16th September to offer「a chance to experience the future of cafe service」.

To celebrate the launch of the coffee machine「NesCafe Dolce Gusto DROP」, which had a huge emphasis on design, there will be an event involving the use of humanoid robot「Pepper」,drones, and projection mapping, to create a futuristic cafe. It will be open until the 23rd.

NesCafe Shinjuku is a cafe which uses the same coffee machines and is built in the form of a showroom. DROP is a coffee machine which is based off the image of the last drop of coffee falling into a cup, and uses a touch panel with its entirely flat surface. It is a new product in the popular series of「Dolce Gusto」which has cumulative sales of 200 million units worldwide and domestic sales in Japan surpassing 1.6 million units.

The Future Cafe, which opens from 15 September for a limited period, is set up in celebration of the launch. In addition to the normal cafe, the inside of the shop will have multiple units of DROP displayed, and visitors may choose their capsules, use DROP, and enjoy their coffee.

Usually,「Pepper」will be serving customers at NesCafe Shinjuku, deducing a customer's favourite coffee with a series of questions, giving explanations, and more. For the Future Cafe, above what it already does, there will also be a drone in the shape of DROP flying around in the shop. The Touch&Try Corner will make use of projection mapping, and a robot that looks like DROP（?）will co-star with DROP. It aims to emulate what a futuristic cafe would be like.

With regards about DROP, Kensuke Otani, manager of Nestle’s Beverage and Coffee System Business Department said 「I would like to end its conventional placement in a sorry corner of the kitchen. With this machine that spearheads into the future」. The Future Cafe, is built with the idea of a futuristic cafe which uses the 「much spoken about but never seen before in real life」 drones and Pepper.

At the opening event, artiste GACKT, 「the man who knows the difference」, made an appearance. GACKT-san, who said 「Just 5 years ago I couldn't drink coffee」, has recently become particular about coffee to the point where he grinds his own coffee beans However, with the recent advances in coffee machines, compared to coffee that he makes himself, he said 「If you're asking me which tastes better, I've come to decide that this （coffee machine） tastes better」.

GACKT-san tried the DROP, he praised not only the taste, but also said 「Regardless, the aroma is good」. With regards to the design as well, comparing with conventional electronics 「There are many products which lack design sense as they appear mechanical and cold」 he said. He showed his liking for it when he mentioned that a product that can be decoratively incorporated as part of a home's interior has finally been made, and he said 「Designs like these are great」.

Also, there was the announcement of GACKT-san's and Nestle Japan's upcoming activities included in a comprehensive agreement. Activities to be implemented by the two parties include the following: GACKT-san will be acting in 「Odoru Dai SendenKaigi Season 2」 which is scheduled for release in October, in late November he will be releasing a music video and image song for DROP, a campaign in March 2016 which comprises of a free download of one of GACKT's songs from his new album only for Nestle Members through Nestle Amuse, and sponsorship for the nationwide tour starting in the same month.

The Future Cafe will be open from 16 September to 23 September and will be open daily except for the 19th. It will operate from 11am to 6pm, with Touch&Try Projection Mapping in play every 30 minutes. From 6pm to 9pm, the regular cafe will be in business. It is located at Tokyo City's Shibuya Ward, Jingumae 1-22-8.

In addition, until the 23rd, the capsules for 「Iced Cappucino」 (available for sale for a limited time only) and 「Uji Matcha」 (available for sale for a limited time at Hokkaido only) can be used.

“First-Class Entertainer” GACKT's Unknown Fight... To be able to Drink Coffee [ I Practiced Everyday] Appearance at Nestle's [Future Cafe] Opening Event

For Nestle Japan's unveiling of the coffee machine「NesCafe Dolce Gusto DROP」and the opening celebration of the「Future Cafe」which is only operational for a limited time period, an event was held at said cafe located at「NesCafe Shinjuku」(Tokyo, Shibuya Ward, Jingumae) on 15 September 2015.

Before the cafe opens on the 16th, singer, song-writer GACKT-san (42) appeared as the first customer. This time, GACKT-san who says「I'm particular about everything, and I'll challenge myself with anything that's new」about himself, emphatises and challenges with Nestle's unique philosophy and "futuristic" image of cafe service while he takes the stage.

I'm not good at it but,「In France everyone looked cool drinking it」

GACKT-san was dressed in a full black suit, like coffee, for his appearance. As he drank the coffee that was brewed by「DROP」he praised it, saying「Delicious」. Asked for the reason behind that, 「It is decided by the extent to which its freshness is preserved. It is important to always be able to drink it in its freshest state. Because while it prolongs its scent, the freshness is also kept」he analysed. He expressed his appreciation, saying「A coffee machine for home-use gives the impression that it has a cheap taste but, this（DROP）is really great」.

In fact, DROP uses the authentic cafe pressure of 15 atm for flavour extraction, and with special coffee capsules that use a patented technology to prevent oxidation, technologies which maintain freshness of the coffee beans are condensed together.

However, GACKT-san reveals「In the past I wasn't good with coffee」.「When I went to France, everyone looked so cool drinking it, that I practiced everyday. In these 5 years I've become able to find it delicious when drinking it. I've become one of the adults」he said. He only started drinking coffee in recent years but, as expected of GACKT-san who is firm with his "particularities", he said「I've started brewing it myself. Right now I can brew it better than anyone else」, exhibiting his thorough pursuits.

Even so, sounding like he desires having a lady brew coffee for him, he said with a sigh「Having someone wake up slightly earlier and brew a delicious cup of coffee for me. If only a girl like that would appear. I can't really find one like that...」.

「I think Pepper is cute」

The「Future Cafe」has to concept of using the latest cutting-edge technology together, and the symbol of that is the world's first emotion-sensitive robot「Pepper」who will be residing at the cafe as a shop staff. It made an appearance at the event, and had an amusing conversation with GACKT-san about the coffee machine「Gusto」.

G「I can feel the future. But if it were a little taller it would be easier to talk to...」
P「Indeed. Between Pepper and Gusto, which do you like more?」

G「It has a good design. And my niece bought it for me. It's good」
P「I see. Then, which would you rather have at home?」
G「I already said Gusto right（laughs）」
P「It's great that you picked Gusto...」
G「That subtle look seems like loneliness」
P「（As if interrupting）GACKT-san, thank you. I, too, would like to be told that someone would like to have me in their home」
With that, Pepper took its leave. At this GACKT-san has a wry smile but didn't forget to follow up with「I think Pepper is cute」.

The「Future Cafe」will only be open until 23rd September for this limited period, at NesCafe Shinjuku. Also,「NesCafe Dolce Gusto DROP」will go on sale nationwide at electronics stores. It is priced（without tax）at 13,704 yen.
