CRANK-IN.NET: Nikaido Fumi Co-stars with GACKT and Other Quirky Cast Members "I'm the most decent one"

Actress Nikaido Fumi attended the movie Tonde Saitama’s Japan Premiere in Tokyo on the 28th. Co-stars GACKT, Iseya Yusuke, Brother Tom, Shimazaki Haruka, Kato Ryo, Masuwaka Tsubasa, Nakao Akira, Kyomoto Masaki, and Director Takeuchi Hideki attended with Nikaido too, and of the filming with the quirky cast that was gathered, she recalled with a smile, “I thought that I was the most decent one”.

This movie is a live-action adaptation of Maya Mineo’s “Kono Manga ga Sugoi! comics Tonde Saitama” (Takarajimasha), which sold over 660,000 copies. For the Saitama citizens who have been persecuted by Tokyo citizens and where Momomi (Nikaido) and Rei (GACKT) are involved, they form the “legend part”, while the Sugawara family who reside in Saitama and are heading to Tokyo for their daughter’s exchange of engagement gifts, they form the “modern part” in this 2 part set up. Nikaido, who challenges a male role in this movie, spoke of the extreme lines that were used for “Saitama disses” in the movie and commented with a smile, “Around halfway through, it slides completely towards the direction of love, so to those who are watching it today, please do enjoy the evolution from dissing to love”.

On the other hand, GACKT looked back on filming, saying, “(The first day) started with a kiss scene. I thought, ‘what a process’.”. He mentioned ornate and elegant sets at the site and said, “Our get-ups were more towards that level, and it made the staff’s normal appearances look weird. All my co-stars’ makeup was amazing too”. Continuing, he smiled and flashed his sparkling teeth as he said, “Since the gateway into this was in this form, I got into its world view with the good start for both me and Fumi-chan. It felt like we were dancing in the palm of director Takeuchi’s hand until the filming of the movie ended”.

After that, Nikaido spoke of the cast who played the quirky characters, saying, “The scene was like that of people from different planets came to earth representing them, did everything with a flourish, and then all went home with a flourish”, and even added, “It felt as if I was the most decent one (at the scene)”. Hearing that, GACKT made the audience laugh when he retorted, “That was what I thought the whole time though. That I was the most decent one”.

The movie, Tonde Saitama, will be released nationwide on 22 February.
