NOSH.MEDIA: Nikaido Fumi & GACKT, Speaking Their Mind Despite The Quirky Cast「I think I'm the most decent one」

The Tonde Saitama movie Japan premier in Tokyo was held at the Tokyo Dome City Hall, and the two lead stars, Nikaido Fumi-san and GACKT-san, appeared for a stage greeting.

Tonde Saitama is a live adaptation of Maya Mineo-san’s original work, “Kono Manga ga Sugoi! comics Tonde Saitama”, which sold over 620,000 copies.

Dannoura Momomi (Nikaido Fumi-san); the son of the governor and the student council president of the most prestigious school in Tokyo, and Asami Rei (GACKT-san); the transfer student from America who has returned to Japan, but is actually a member of Saitama Liberation Front which seeks to abolish the waybills.

Asami, who thought that it was strange for Rei to stand up for the citizens of Saitama, found himself attracted to Rei for some unknown reason, and gets caught up in a conflict between Tokyo, Saitama and even Chiba.

Both Nikaido Fumi-san and GACKT-san act the roles of rather unique characters.

Especially for GACKT-san, who unexpectedly ended up acting the role of a high school student. He reveals, “When I first heard that the role was that of a high school student, my immediate answer was no”. “ ‘But even if he’s technically a high schooler, he’s a special high schooler……’ I started to wonder, what kind of high schooler is that (smiles). And then things went on from there,” he went on, revealing the string of events that led to his acceptance of this world view and the role.

On this day, the likes of Iseya Yusuke-san, Brother Tom-san, Kato Ryo-san, Nakao Akira-san, and Kyomoto Masaki-san, all in all, a rather quirky cast, was gathered harmoniously.

When asked about the what things were like filming on set, Nikaido-san spontaneously shared her honest thoughts, saying “Highly individualistic people were gathered, like people representing different planets came together on earth, and the site felt like everyone came back all at once. I did my work on site while thinking ‘I’m the most decent one’ (smiles)”.

Just then, GACKT-san retorted, “…… But, that’s what I kept thinking the whole time, that I’m the most decent one (smiles)”, and the others too started to raise their hands saying “I’m decent” as they displayed their close bond.

Tonde Saitama goes on screens nationwide on Friday, 22 February!
