It has been confirmed that GACKT will be acting in a double starring with Nikaido Fumi-san in the movie “Tonde Saitama”, which will be released in 2019.

“Tonde Saitama” is a work that was released in 1982 by mangaka Mineo Maya, who is famous for the classic “Patalliro!”. At the time when Mineo Maya released this work, he said that he penned a manga with Saitama at the core of its theme because he has previously lived in Saitama Prefecture, Tokorozawa-shi.

「When I received this offer, I thought, “Isn’t there an impossibility to this setting?”, but I’ve always been a fan of Mineo-sensei’s work, so since he has nominated me for this, I accepted this production while thinking “There’s no choice but to do it…” (lol).
Honestly, I’ve yet to get rid of the doubt of “How is it going to turn out, having someone at my age play a high schooler?” but since this manga itself is one that has an impossible setting, I think there isn’t a problem with adding one more impossibility to it.
With regards to (Nikaido) Fumi-chan, I’m glad to be able to co-star with her in this way.
As this will be our first reunion in a long time since the program, I’m looking forward to it. I would like to go into filming this as the best character, and the best co-star for Fumi-chan.
