GACKT Official blog update. Translation below:

In the middle of last night, I finally arrived in Estonia,
one of the three Baltic countries that I’ve always been interested in.
I’m finally able to come to this country.

It is said that it’s the place with most of the world’s most beautiful girls…
Of course,
if that’s the truth, I might settle here…
While thinking about these things, I arrived in the airport.

In the first place, when I mentioned the Baltic states to my friends, they said

『Where’s that??』

and I never get a decent answer out of them.
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania lined up next to each other,
and to the north of them are the Baltic Sea and Finland.

The historical background is exceptionally complex,
and since a few hundred years ago,
they’ve been invaded over and over again by various countries.
Since the invasion of the Vikings,
they’ve been invaded by countries like Finland, Germany, Denmark, Poland, and Sweden,
and eventually, they were ruled by the Soviets until recently.
Even this is quite an amazing topic.

The time when they became independent came together with the collapse of the Soviet Union, so that was in 1991,
in other words, it’s only a little more than 20 years ago.

Since there are quite a lot of their citizens who speak 3 or 4 languages,
and furthermore the languages of these 3 countries are completely different,
so there are many who don’t know about each other’s countries.

With a Japanese’s impression, you might wonder 『Why??』 but,
I think it’s because the words changed more and more,
from each nation’s culture and the influences from the countries that invaded them.

So, this Estonia
is the northernmost of these 3 countries, and has the smallest population of them.
And it’s said that there are many beauties.
This 【many beauties】 is a significant point.

Well,
I knew about this “many beauties” thing from reading a book around 10 years ago but,
I’m very doubtful about whether it’s still the case now,
or if that was even the truth.

In the recent years, they’ve ranked Israelis as the most beautiful women in the world, like

『Whose opinion is that based on!』

is what I’d want to exclaim aloud.
The definition of the most beautiful women in the world
is nothing more than something guided by personal opinions.

Right then,
I was surprised when I arrived at the airport.
Despite that it’s small in size, it’s quite interesting.
This is the first time I’ve seen an airport with a grand piano in it.
It’s fantastic.

I headed to the hotel.
I chose a hotel with a nice ambience right in the middle of the old town but
since it was already the middle of the night, I couldn’t tell if the hotel was good or bad.
I suppose I’ll find out tomorrow.
I went into the room, and the ambience is pretty good.
It’s chic antique style feels good.

I heard that sparkling water was being sold outside from the lobby,
so I decided to go out and have a look anyway.
It’s pitch black, and no one was around.

Most of the shops were closed but
places that looked like bars were open here and there,
and I could hear a bunch of people singing loudly.
Sounds like fun.

I entered a solitary shop that exuded a sketchy vibe.
In it was an aunty, standing alone at the register.

『Hiー』

I said, but she didn’t even move an inch.
Is she alive…

I looked for the drinks corner in the back,
and without knowing which was sparkling water,
I took a few bottles, brought them to the aunty at the register and tried asking her.

『This, sparkling water??』

Without moving an inch, the aunty’s eyes were the only thing that moved and glared in my direction.
She’s exactly like a haunted house doll.
Anyway, I lined up around 4 different types of bottles at the register.
Finally, the aunty started moving to operate the register.

『Thank goodness… She’s human…』

Anyway,
I gave the aunty, whose expression hasn’t changed at all,
the money for the amount shown on the register.
At the end, she took all the bottles and greeted with the brightest smile.

『Thank you❤️』

Then,
she finally smiled at me pleasantly.
What the… So she can smile…
I don’t quite get it but, thank goodness…

With a strange feeling, I returned to the hotel and went straight to sleep.
When I woke up, I decided to go out and walk.

I had tea at the hotel’s cafe,
trained at a gym nearby before walking around the city.
The cityscape is exceptionally beautiful.

There were a lot of souvenirs being sold along the small streets.
There were, anyway, a lot of tourists.

It was more lively I expected.
The cityscape is beautiful,
and looked like what the countryside of ancient Germany would’ve looked like.

So this is a country that’s built on tourism… I thought, and looked it up later,
only to find out that this is actually the country that invented Skype.

They’re actually quite ahead in technology.
After walking for around 5 minutes, a modern day building suddenly popped up.

Schiーーーn.

It suddenly feels like a wet blanket.
They could’ve just put it further away…

They could’ve just purposely chosen not to build something like that here.
What a pity.

Anyway, after training in the gym,
I’ll go explore the city.

It would’ve been nice if I could meet a beauty…
I’ve yet to meet a single one…
