GACKT Official Blog update. Translation below:
Yesterday turned out to be quite a fulfilling day,
I visited Camui♂Gakuen since morning for the final day of the Gakuen Fest.
Whenever I get invited, there were many times when I felt reluctant to go but
since this time there will be a lot of different things to be excited about,
I decided to visit every nook and cranny since morning.
Since today’s performance will be starting at 3 p.m. in the afternoon,
the F9 members and the executive committee have already started preparing.
When I arrived, they have already finished their training,
and I could strongly feel their enthusiasm to deliver
and to leave nothing to chance on this final day.
Maybe it’s because this time’s repertoire is rather different from previous Gakuen Fests, but
it’s turned out to be a performance that I never get tired of watching no matter now many times I’ve seen it.
The fact that students don’t really think this far make it impressive.
Even when I watched the Student Council President do his rehearsals with the rest,
they carefully checked the same songs over and over again
despite that it’s the final day, which is something to learn from.
In the blink of an eye, it was time for the actual performance.
I watched from the very back of the venue and
I could tell how well they executed the small details in the performance, which made it exceptionally enjoyable.
Then,
when I looked at my watch, the overall time of the performance stretched an hour longer than usual.
Maybe it’s because they performed quite a variety of performance service but
it was a wonderful performance that doesn’t make it feel like a lot of time has passed.
After it ended and I headed backstage to say hi to them,
I thought of heading straight back to Tokyo but
I got stuck when they said that they wanted me to join their after-party
so I ended up staying another night in Osaka.
When I arrived at the location of the after-party,
it looks like everything has gotten rather exciting.
It looks like the after-party involves the Camui♂Gakuen executive committee,
the local staff, the F9 members and the Student Council President.
I thought, “So apparently they normally have after-parties with such an atmosphere…”,
as I got to see an unexpected side of the Student Council President.
We spoke for quite awhile at the same table but
he didn’t really reach for any food on the table while drinking only wine…
He’s a man I can’t grasp no matter what.
During the after-party, he didn’t really talk to anyone else except me.
The sight of him silently drinking wine alone makes him look somewhat lonely.
Well,
I thought that all leaders are the same no matter where they’re from… but
it seems like he has come to understand that a long time ago,
and isn’t bothered by that at all.
In the later half of the after-party, maybe it’s because the atmosphere suddenly changed
but abruptly, he said
『It’s about time for me to go, Gokigenyo〜』
and suddenly stood up from his seat.
I thought that I’m already used to the way this unreadable guy does whatever he wants but
I ended up getting flustered, thinking “Is this the time for that!”.
Then,
just as the Student Council President stood up
everyone suddenly stood up together and started singing.
『Happy birthday to you!!!』
Ahhhhhh, that’s right.
“He’s of a different age from me but we have the same birthday…”
I suddenly remembered when I saw a cake being brought out.
I once again realised how slow my mind is considering that I didn’t bring any birthday present at all.
Shit…
Contrary to what I felt,
the atmosphere around me got rather lively.
『Student Council President! Omedetaki〜〜〜!!』
voices called out from around me.
In such a situation, he calmly took the mic and spoke to everyone.
『This cake is too small for me.
I’ll only accept your feelings so everyone, eat it up for me』
he said
in a way where you can’t tell how serious he was about this but
when I saw the smile in the photos that they took of him, he looks pleased.
After that,
he quickly said goodbye to everyone and left.
Like a mirage…
Me and the F9 members who were left spoke together for a little.
They seemed to have already gotten used to the President’s unique behaviour
and I could feel that they aren’t too bothered at all.
『Ah〜〜, it’s how the President always is!!』
Then,
I drank with them until it was around 1.
Drummer Baru got drunk and we out Habanero around his mouth
where he went from a dazed state to a weird kind of tension,
ending off the after-party with a high.
This time’s Gakuen Fest was really fun.
More than that, it was nice to get a glimpse of the good side of them.
I’ll be having my hell birthday party tomorrow too.
Hm…
I wonder if the reason why I don’t really want to go back to Tokyo
is because of tequila…
Scary…
