GACKT Official Blog update. Translation below:
In these two days,
I was busy with the game press conference and the Nico Nico Live broadcast,
and in between I had my meetings, and didn’t get enough sleep but
this morning, I slept at 6, and maybe because I slept a little longer, I didn’t feel tired and my head felt fresh.
Because of the other day’s press conference for a game called Fight League,
I was busily moving around since morning.
Actually, because we’ll be battling in this game during the actual event,
since a week before this press conference,
I ended up getting addicted to it when I was playing it to practice.
The reason why I got addicted was because I could enjoy it with my friends though…
After my meeting ended, I went for dinner with my friends.
I happened to bump into actor Ayano Go, an we ended up drinking until morning.
As we drank, we talked about music, expression,
and the meaning of life.
At the end, although we got completely drunk,
the two of us walked out of the place unsteadily, felt thankful that we were able to meet each other and spend a wonderful time like this, then said goodbye.
Yesterday, the Nico Nico Live broadcast was held at GACKT Studio,
and after it ended, I went for dinner with movie director Kiriya for the first time in awhile.
「How’ve you been recently?」
I asked, and we started talking.
I talked about a wide variety of topics with Kiriya’s friend.
Kiriya, who talks about his own ideas and way of life seriously in all topics, is adorable.
He’s older than me but
when he shows this side of him,
he’s someone who gets completely drawn in to anything and everything, and who is always thinking seriously,
and for some reason, it makes me think that he’s adorable and such.
It’s nostalgic that the first time we met, we started off fighting.
After dinner ended, I went back to the studio
and as I played Fight League with TAKUMI again, we started talking about a variety of things.
Sandwiched between talking about random things,
we talked about work and serious topics too, and in the end, it was morning.
These few years, I’ve met a variety of friends
and worked with them.
There were also many times when they really helped my out in my private life.
Of course,
there were also friends who I grew distant from.
Such things are regrettable but that, too, is fated.
Recently, I’ve been thinking that
sharing the time in your life with the friends who are precious to you like this
is a really important thing.
The time that we have in our lives is limited.
This morning,
when I woke up and read a message that was delivered to my phone,
there was a lot of content that for some reason got me worried about my own body.
That is
the news of Mao-san’s passing at the young age of 34,
and I suppose you’ve read the blog
about Mao-san and Ebizo at the press conference.
Her life ending this early at 34 years old is really tragic.
I believe there were a lot of painful times as she was fighting her illness at the end.
Even so,
in her blog, there were always smiles.
I believe there were many people who received courage from that smile.
I think there are now fewer people
who feel that they need to face what it means to live.
Life is sometimes fleeting.
The amount of time that you can spend with precious people is shorter than you think.
That’s why,
we have to be thankful that we’re still alive like this now,
that we have the mission of leave something for the future,
or pass the spiritual baton to someone else.
When I commemorated the passing of an ex-member a few days ago,
I found myself thinking about this same thing again.
We have to understand why we’re living like this.
We have to be thankful that we can still continue fighting.
We have to remember that we can convey our feelings to the precious people around us.
At such a time, Ebizo, too, continued working like a professional.
I believe he is still unable to sort out his feelings for a variety of reasons.
The words 『I hope that you’ll do your best』 sound cheesy but I sincerely hope for that.
And, Mao-san.
It must have been really hard for you until the very end.
Please rest in peace.
You had a wonderful smile until the end.
