GACKT OFFICIAL BLOG: I, who has few friends

GACKT Official Blog update. Translation below:

Today, on and off, I worked on organising my hard drives
which I’ve accumulated.

The number of external hard drives, in which I save my data, have increased too much
to the point that I’m in a state where I don’t know where I saved what at all.

Launching each one on the screen of the PC they’re connected to,
I checked what data each one contained while
I tried to unwillingly work on putting all the data into one.

Initially it was a job that was pretty mind blowing to do but
the memories of these few years were suddenly brought back to life
and I realised that there were quite a lot of funny things.

Even so,
I was made keenly aware of the fact of how few celebrity friends I have.
Originally, if you’ve been in the entertainment industry for over 20 years,
it wouldn’t be surprising if you’ve got quite a number of friends who are celebrities but…
In the pictures that I’ve kept for my own record, the people in them are pretty much the same few.

I guess it’s rare that someone in the industry has this few celebrity friends.
I even get the feeling that the people who work behind the scenes
in this industry probably have more friends than I do.
In the midst of organising the photos of mine, with me having so few friends,
I began to try and recall
when the picture of that memory I found was taken.
(Don’t get me wrong but this is not all the friends that I have)

This picture was taken at the Toronto Film Festival with Josh.
It looks like we’re messing around with each other with wonderful smiles but
actually, I was already very drunk then and I don’t know what we said to each other at all.
Both of us were speaking incoherently, and furthermore, in English,
in the end, we just smiled and nodded at each other.
Anyway, this guy is tall…

This is one of the pictures that were taken when I was on Wentz-kun’s program in Nagoya.
To be frank, I didn’t expect that
we would spend the whole day walking around the streets,
and I remember that I was like a tottering old man at the end of it.
I think this time was what made me and Wentz-kun start talking together normally but
even so, we only speak around twice a year.

This was my terrible state when I went drinking with YOSHIKI after the program
and the two of us ended up drinking till daylight.
I wonder why we end up completely useless when we drink together…
There has never been a time when we could respectably reach the end.
And even despite that we’re both mature adults…

This is a picture from when we had a surprise birthday party for ＨＹＤＥ.
Since our timings rarely match,
I remember that it was a surprise birthday party that had bad timing.
This year too, I thought of planning a surprise for ＨＹＤＥ so
『I’m free the day after tomorrow』
I said, extending an invitation to him from me, but
『Sorry, on that day I’ll be overseas!』
he said, and when ＨＹＤＥ told me that, I said to ＨＹＤＥ
『I’m inviting you myself!』
and I ended up getting angry.
Sowwy.

This is something from the time when I was going around visiting meat shops with Yoshida’s Shuu-kun
and we enthusiastically visited quite a number.
I met Shuu-kun in Vegas and we got along well, and since then
you can say that he’s my best friend from the world of martial arts.
Well, I’m not a fighter though…
Don’t get me wrong.

This is when Kirishou (Kiryuuin Shou) suddenly crashed my mealtime in Hokkaido.
And when he came in, the moment he saw my face,
『I’m really sorry!
I’m not just messing around!!
This is an expression of love!!』
he said, making terrible excuses but
no matter how I look at it, I can only see it as me being mocked in this picture.

These guys in this state…
Well, what really made me laugh
was that the one who was dressed as MALICE’s guitarist Kouzi ended up playing the drums.
Without a doubt, Kouzi too will definitely be thinking
『I’m… not a drummer though…』
with a taut expression on his face.

This was during some red carpet somewhere
when I met Furuya-san and other voice actors for the first time in awhile.
It was great that everyone was looking good.
Anyway, because they’re people I admire,
I hope that they are able to remain active for as long as possible, even if just for one day.

This was when I appeared as a host for the same event that Jessica Alba attended.
I’ve loved Jessica Alba since a long time ago so I kept thinking
『Has this day finally arrived!』
and felt all excited but
I didn’t know that she was already married, and when I heard of it at the venue, I remember feeling my spirits sink.
Despite that I loved her I was completely out of touch with her news…
Even so, I was moved by her wonderful smile.
After this event,
she took the trouble do something as thoughtful as
to get a photo that we took together and send to to me with a message attached
and I remember screaming
『How adorable!!』.

This was when a drunk HYDE
said to me in the middle of the night 『Come quickly!』
and I went to Dir En Grey’s Ｓhinya’s home for a barbecue party.
What I remember is
rudely getting slapped in the face 4 or 5 times by stupid juniors whose names I don’t even know.
Just who do they think they are…

And the one that takes the cake is this!

Just why did I get this hairstyle…
I suppose the only ones who suit this hairstyle are
me or Tezuka Osamu-Sensei.
That said,
in the case of Sensei, it’s not his hairstyle but his hat though.

Maybe I’ll upload funny pictures in this manner again tomorrow.
