CRANK-IN.NET: GACKT made nervous by the director that goes at his own pace? 「His imagination is impressive, a serious person」

The viewing of 『Karanukan』, which is a Special Screening at 「Shima Zenbu de Ookina-sai　9th Okinawa International Movie Festival」 was held on the 24th, and was attended by it’s actors, GACKT, Kimura Suzuka, and Kimura Yuichi, and the director Hamano Yasuhiro in Okinawa. Director Hamano, who originally had the strong intention of wanting to produce the movie with GACKT as the lead star, revealed the backstory that when he proposed his offer without anything to lose 「He said OK in one go!」, and he broke into a smile. However, GACKT spoke of director Hamano way of doing things at his own pace with a wry smile 「I told him 『Please let me think about it』 but… the director immediately thought of it as an OK, his imagination is impressive. He’s a serious person, and amazing」 , but even so, he added 「To appear in a movie about Okinawa, it makes me feel like it’s a repayment to it」, showing his deep love for his birthplace, Okinawa.

　The story of 『Karanukan』 is a fantastical tale about an internationally acclaimed photographer Ooyama Hikaru (GACKT) who was in the middle of a photoshoot with a girl he met in Okinawa, Ishigaki Maumi (Kimura Suzuka) when suddenly, she disappears. Following that, Ooyama searched for Ishigaki but, was Ishigaki a dream, or possibly the river god (Karanukan) after all?

　The heroine of this movie is played by Kimura Suzuka, a young talent who was picked through an audition during the 「8th Okinawa International Movie Festival」. This being her first movie, Kimura said with a smile 「Initially I was very nervous but GACKT-san and everyone around me were very friendly」. Following that, GACKT added 「I appear to look likethis but, I think that I suprisingly have no walls. She also got along well quite quickly」.

　As he was playing the profession of a photographer, GACKT received guidance from Kanoh Tenmei, a maestro of the gravure industry. Kimura Yuichi said 「He even directed areas that weren’t asked from him, Tenmei-san really overdid it!」, and GACKT, too, nodded and recalled 「I received guidance on how to shoot from Tenmei-san but he was really amazing. He said 『GACKT’s role this time around, is like me in when I was young!』, his belief is amazing」. There was a conversation about an occasion that was tough from start to end, and director Hamano, who wasn’t involved, had a face full of smiles as he said 「That scene was the best!」.

　『Karanukan』 is set to be released in September.
