ItalianoGACKT appears at the Roaring Screening Event for movie『King Kong』 「I think my voice was pretty good」
On April 5 (Wed), GACKT appeared at the ＜Roaring × Cheering Screening Event＞ for『Kong: Skull Island』, which was held at Marunouchi Piccadilly 3.
Following IMAX, 3D, and 4DX, the ＜Roaring × Cheering Screening Event＞is the first movie screening event of it’s type, where in addition to letting the audience enjoy the movie with explosive sounds from sound systems used for live concerts, the support of audience participation is also included. The audience will be able to cheer on the characters that appear and make sounds during the screening, and we expect that it will become one of the new ways to enjoy movies.
With this time being the first screening to be held as well, GACKT, who is part of the Japanese dubbing team for this movie and dubbed the voice of the protagonist, appeared at Marunouchi Piccadilly. In addition to the many movie fans, lots of GACKT’s fans were in the audience too, and GACKT surprised everyone by appearing from the back of the audience’s’ seats. While being wrapped up in the fans’ cheers, he spoke of the highlights of the movie.
When GACKT watched the movie for this first time, he didn’t know that 雅 -MIYAVI- was acting in it, and said that he remarked with surprise「To think that there are people in this world who look exactly like you」, making the audience laugh. And when GACKT was asked about what he would do if there was an offer made to him to act in a Hollywood movie, he replied with humour「For me I would like to act as King Kong.（Reaches out）I think I’ll do well in saving people」.
Incidentally, the most surprising scene for GACKT when he watched the movie was the Vietnam scene, which was shot entirely in a studio. GACKT was also in admiration of how large the scale of a Hollywood movie is. Following this, he revealed that his most shocking episode in his life thus far, was in the past, when he visited Hokkaido Shizunai for a calendar shoot, and got surrounded by the people from the town, saying that situation was like a “real life『Walking Dead』”.
Lastly, as the talk of his rare episode and his humour ended, GACKT said「Recently, I’ve been thinking that movies should be watched with huge powerful video」, and appealed about the movie, saying「In the dubbed version, I think my voice is pretty good. Please do watch the dubbed version as well」. The movie 『Kong: Skull Island』is currently in cinemas nationwide. Box office revenue has alread reached 1.3 billion yen, and it has recently hit the milestone of over 1 million people having watched this movie.
