GACKT Official Blog update. Translation below:
Today,
to spend everyone’s last day in New Caledonia,
we gathered in the cafe in the afternoon
and prepared for the event.
I headed towards the cafe a little late because of training
and my friends were already drunk and ready.
To celebrate TAKUMI’s birthday
we had a surprise event
and after that ended smoothly,
we headed out into the city.
Even so,
there’s nothing in the city.
I thought that it was a tourist city but
the hotels by the sea
are just operating on their own
without a single tourism function being provided by the country.
Well, it’s not to say that they can’t do this but
even though prices are that expensive,
the economy isn’t moving I suppose… it’s worrisome.
On the way to the city,
the sea is lined with yachts and boats but
I suppose it’s just being anchored there
by the rich of the world.
It’s not owned by the locals living here.
We arrived at the park and walked around.
Nothing at all.
With just the locals, who have finished work, waiting for buses there,
there aren’t any tourists walking around there.
Gives the impression of a deserted city.
We thought of going to a cafe and looked around in various places but
there wasn’t a cafe to be found anywhere.
Just then,
while walking down a back alley
we found a nice abandoned building and decided to take photos there.
I stood with TAKUMI and took a photo with the same pose
then poker master Igu Igu and
this time’s winner, Shiga-chan
tried taking a photo the same way.
For some reason… it’s funny…
Even when we took a of all the men sitting down
for some reason, only Igu Igu looks gay…
I wonder if he’s creating a new character…
Well then…
In a city without anything
there still a lot to play with as it is.
While taking photos like this
it’s alright as long as we create our own play.
After walking for awhile, a luxury liner was anchored before us.
When we went closer for a look, it’s rather big.
Though since I hate boats
I don’t feel any charm from it at all.
I suppose there are many people in the world
who like things like these.
Going on a journey for a few months on the sea…
Just being on the sea for me
will probably cause me to start going bald in the middle of the journey.
I’ll have to change my name from Gakuto to Tsurutto.
Just like that
the cafes were in the end closed everywhere
and we decided to head to a restaurant.
I suppose the fact that all cafes are closed in the evening
means to say that there’s no motivation at all.
Is it because they don’t have the habit of relaxing in a cafe.
It seems that there’s a law in New Caledonia
that forbids working for more than 8 hours but
even so, they’re running the shops too little.
Only MacDonald’s is open.
They’ve gotten their priorities wrong.
Tourists are getting less common.
If the economy revolves around being a tourist destination
I think there’s more they should be doing.
We arrived at a restaurant I like
and decided to have steak.
The beef in New Caledonia is cheap but
I feel that the lean meat is pretty delicious.
I was most shocked that
we had lean meat of this caliber this time.
I felt like it was pretty high quality lean meat.
Even though the fibers are fine
the taste is not plain at all.
In terms of body, lean meat is definitely still better.
Japan’s meat, which has too much marbling,
is too strong with the fat, and the taste is good in terms of the body but
you have to reduce the number of times you consume it
otherwise you’ll destroy your body.
While waiting for a taxi
we sat on a bench along the coast and stared at the sea.
Igu Igu and TAKUMI jumped
and spelled out my feelings
on the memories in New Caledonia.
Yeah, the best!
Our ages are different but
both of them are my beloved friends.
I can’t forget what Igu Igu said at the end.
『Waka (Young master)! Just now… My back made a cracking noise!!
It’s definitely gotten hurt from this!!』
The final chapter of the tales of New Caledonia has safely arrived.
Mm, happy ending, happy ending…
