Nestle's Limited Period Cafe at Shinjuku, Tokyo Opens with Pepper Serving Guests and Drones Flying

Nestle Japan has opened「NesCafe Dolce Gusto DROP Future Cafe」, dubbed the limited time cafe, at Shinjuku, Tokyo's 「NesCafe Shinjuku」 from 16th September to offer「a chance to experience the future of cafe service」.
To celebrate the launch of the coffee machine「NesCafe Dolce Gusto DROP」, which had a huge emphasis on design, there will be an event involving the use of humanoid robot「Pepper」,drones, and projection mapping, to create a futuristic cafe. It will be open until the 23rd.
NesCafe Shinjuku is a cafe which uses the same coffee machines and is built in the form of a showroom. DROP is a coffee machine which is based off the image of the last drop of coffee falling into a cup, and uses a touch panel with its entirely flat surface. It is a new product in the popular series of「Dolce Gusto」which has cumulative sales of 200 million units worldwide and domestic sales in Japan surpassing 1.6 million units.
The Future Cafe, which opens from 15 September for a limited period, is set up in celebration of the launch. In addition to the normal cafe, the inside of the shop will have multiple units of DROP displayed, and visitors may choose their capsules, use DROP, and enjoy their coffee.
Usually,「Pepper」will be serving customers at NesCafe Shinjuku, deducing a customer's favourite coffee with a series of questions, giving explanations, and more. For the Future Cafe, above what it already does, there will also be a drone in the shape of DROP flying around in the shop. The Touch&Try Corner will make use of projection mapping, and a robot that looks like DROP（?）will co-star with DROP. It aims to emulate what a futuristic cafe would be like.
With regards about DROP, Kensuke Otani, manager of Nestle’s Beverage and Coffee System Business Department said 「I would like to end its conventional placement in a sorry corner of the kitchen. With this machine that spearheads into the future」. The Future Cafe, is built with the idea of a futuristic cafe which uses the 「much spoken about but never seen before in real life」 drones and Pepper.
At the opening event, artiste GACKT, 「the man who knows the difference」, made an appearance. GACKT-san, who said 「Just 5 years ago I couldn't drink coffee」, has recently become particular about coffee to the point where he grinds his own coffee beans However, with the recent advances in coffee machines, compared to coffee that he makes himself, he said 「If you're asking me which tastes better, I've come to decide that this （coffee machine） tastes better」.
GACKT-san tried the DROP, he praised not only the taste, but also said 「Regardless, the aroma is good」. With regards to the design as well, comparing with conventional electronics 「There are many products which lack design sense as they appear mechanical and cold」 he said. He showed his liking for it when he mentioned that a product that can be decoratively incorporated as part of a home's interior has finally been made, and he said 「Designs like these are great」.
Also, there was the announcement of GACKT-san's and Nestle Japan's upcoming activities included in a comprehensive agreement. Activities to be implemented by the two parties include the following: GACKT-san will be acting in 「Odoru Dai SendenKaigi Season 2」 which is scheduled for release in October, in late November he will be releasing a music video and image song for DROP, a campaign in March 2016 which comprises of a free download of one of GACKT's songs from his new album only for Nestle Members through Nestle Amuse, and sponsorship for the nationwide tour starting in the same month.
The Future Cafe will be open from 16 September to 23 September and will be open daily except for the 19th. It will operate from 11am to 6pm, with Touch&Try Projection Mapping in play every 30 minutes. From 6pm to 9pm, the regular cafe will be in business. It is located at Tokyo City's Shibuya Ward, Jingumae 1-22-8.
In addition, until the 23rd, the capsules for 「Iced Cappucino」 (available for sale for a limited time only) and 「Uji Matcha」 (available for sale for a limited time at Hokkaido only) can be used.

The singer GACKT, on September 15th, participated at the town event "NesCafé Dolce Gusto, drink of the future" to celebrate the anniversary of the opening of the café. GACKT said that 5 years ago he wasn't drinking coffee! "To be able to drink it I did a lot of training. I am a person that is able to fixate on everything, so I kept on going until it didn't become an habit." Furthermore now he says smiling: "If you think that sometimes, in the morning, even my niece fills up my cup of coffee!". A discussion opened then about being serve coffee from an adult woman, to which GACKT answered revealing his opinions on a possible ideal girlfriend: "If there could be one I'd be very happy. If a woman would do something like this for me it would make me really happy. But women like this are not to be found eh!" Continued "If there was a woman that can prepare coffee to me, since men are very simple by nature, she'll surely be able to make me work even harder!" He continues giving advices on love: "Furthermore I'd want to underline this to girls, so that they can control their men more easily".
At the event, GACKT had the occasion to meet Pepper the robot, saying "I thought you were taller and less talkative"!. Pepper asked GACKT "If you have to pick between me and Nescafé dolce gusto, who would you want to have with you at home?" and the singer said "That for sure" pointing at the Nescafé dolce gusto with his hand creating an hilarious situation.
GACKT signed a collaboration relationship with Nestlé Japan worldwide, starting next year. As an artist is he said something quite rare to be heard but with a very peaceful expression: "This is not just to present the recording labels, I did it also to collaborate with a company and help each other. What I did, take it as an example, I hope you understand what I am meaning".

Before the cafe opens on the 16th, singer, song-writer GACKT-san (42) appeared as the first customer. This time, GACKT-san who says「I'm particular about everything, and I'll challenge myself with anything that's new」about himself, emphatises and challenges with Nestle's unique philosophy and "futuristic" image of cafe service while he takes the stage.

GACKT-san was dressed in a full black suit, like coffee, for his appearance. As he drank the coffee that was brewed by「DROP」he praised it, saying「Delicious」. Asked for the reason behind that, 「It is decided by the extent to which its freshness is preserved. It is important to always be able to drink it in its freshest state. Because while it prolongs its scent, the freshness is also kept」he analysed. He expressed his appreciation, saying「A coffee machine for home-use gives the impression that it has a cheap taste but, this（DROP）is really great」.
In fact, DROP uses the authentic cafe pressure of 15 atm for flavour extraction, and with special coffee capsules that use a patented technology to prevent oxidation, technologies which maintain freshness of the coffee beans are condensed together.
However, GACKT-san reveals「In the past I wasn't good with coffee」.「When I went to France, everyone looked so cool drinking it, that I practiced everyday. In these 5 years I've become able to find it delicious when drinking it. I've become one of the adults」he said. He only started drinking coffee in recent years but, as expected of GACKT-san who is firm with his "particularities", he said「I've started brewing it myself. Right now I can brew it better than anyone else」, exhibiting his thorough pursuits.
Even so, sounding like he desires having a lady brew coffee for him, he said with a sigh「Having someone wake up slightly earlier and brew a delicious cup of coffee for me. If only a girl like that would appear. I can't really find one like that...」.
「I think Pepper is cute」
The「Future Cafe」has to concept of using the latest cutting-edge technology together, and the symbol of that is the world's first emotion-sensitive robot「Pepper」who will be residing at the cafe as a shop staff. It made an appearance at the event, and had an amusing conversation with GACKT-san about the coffee machine「Gusto」.

G「I can feel the future. But if it were a little taller it would be easier to talk to...」
P「Indeed. Between Pepper and Gusto, which do you like more?」

G「It has a good design. And my niece bought it for me. It's good」
P「I see. Then, which would you rather have at home?」
G「I already said Gusto right（laughs）」
P「It's great that you picked Gusto...」
G「That subtle look seems like loneliness」
P「（As if interrupting）GACKT-san, thank you. I, too, would like to be told that someone would like to have me in their home」
With that, Pepper took its leave. At this GACKT-san has a wry smile but didn't forget to follow up with「I think Pepper is cute」.
The「Future Cafe」will only be open until 23rd September for this limited period, at NesCafe Shinjuku. Also,「NesCafe Dolce Gusto DROP」will go on sale nationwide at electronics stores. It is priced（without tax）at 13,704 yen.

GACKT, Pepper and the experience of a caffè from the future.
Nestlè Japan has decided to open in Harajuku for a limited period of time a new type o caffè called "Nescafé dolce gusto, future caffè'.
This event was organised to celebrate the presentation of new coffee machine.
Using this new model of coffee machine, largely widespread in Japan, you'll be able to try the new "Nescafé dolce gusto, future coffee'. The name was chosen following the peculiar and almost futuristic-like design of the machine. Morover, for a limited period of time, a robot will be used to make users experience the aura of the 'robot come from the future'.
GACKT was the first costumer to try this innovative coffee.
After he had tasted the "Nescafé dolce gusto", GACKT, that looked like he had appreciated its aroman, said: Until 5 years ago coffee for me was nothing. But then, I went to France and saw people drinking it and I started practicing till I was able to think that its taste was delicious. From that moment on coffee become essential to me, and one of my best friends in this adult age! Once you give it a sip, usually, it loses some of its aroma but it this case, I can still feel it. I feel this coffee is really original and genuine. This is just my opinion! I think that Nestlè is really unbeatable in this field.
In the middle of the event, appears the one that will be working the fe coffee shop "Nescafé Harajuku", Pepper! Even when overwhelmed by the many questions of the people taking part to the event, he didn't brake his composure and said with irony "I thought you were toller then this" laughing hard.
Furthermore, to the question made by the robot "If you had to choose between me and the Nescafé dolce gusto, what would you like to have at home?" GACKT replied hesitating: "The coffè, obviously" . After this statement the robot said: "I thought you would choose me because I'm cuter!".
GACKT said it was really fun talking with the little Pepper adding: "I think that this little robbot will be a really useful device in the near future!"
GACKT, this time signed a global scale agreement with Nestlè Japan. He decided to interpret this collaboration analyzing the figure of a musician or artist in the preset days: " An artist today, is not only the one of produces cds for a company, but it is also the one who tries to support it with its work. Till he is able to keep his word to that company with responsibility and dedication , also the company will be eager to work with him like saying 'Ok, let's work together"
This is not something I alone am doing, and I think that if you show you are interested in something, any artist can do whatever he wants. The time when an artist that can no longer sell its music has to retire, has ended"
The 『Nescafé dolce gusto, future caffè』 will be open to public at the Nescafè coffee shop in Harajuku (Wed-holiday) till September the 23rd.
On september the 19th it'll be closed
