Actress Nikaido Fumi-san and singer GACKT-san attended a talk event held on the 13th at Sakae, Nagoya’s complex, Oasis 21 (Higashi-ku, Nagoya) for the movie that they are both lead stars in, Tonde Saitama (directed by Takeuchi Hideki, releasing 22 February). The movie Tonde Saitama is based on a manga by Maya Mineo, known for Patalliro!, which was originally announced in 1982 and then revived in 2015. Set in a world where Saitama citizens are being persecuted by Tokyo citizens, Dannoura Momomi (Nikaido Fumi-san); the son of the governor of Tokyo and the student council president of the most prestigious school in Tokyo, Hakuhoudou; and Asami Rei (GACKT-san); the transfer student from America who has returned to Japan are drawn to each other. However, Rei was born in Saitama and is a member of Saitama Liberation Front which seeks to abolish the waybills for travel between Saitama and Tokyo…

The Osaka event, “Nihon Saitama-ka Keikaku in Osaka (Japan Saitama-fying Plan in Osaka)”, of the Tonde Saitama movie (releasing 22 February) campaign was held on the 13th at Shinsekai, Osaka. It was attended by the lead stars Nikaido Fumi (24) and GACKT (45).

A nonsensical movie that freely disses Saitama in an absurd setting. After that, they were asked what title they would give to a sequel if it was set in Kansai. Put on the spot by the MC ,Nikaido said, “U～h, I have good friends in Shiga so” “Tomeru de Biwako (Stop, Lake Biwa)”. With a wry smile, GACKT said, “That’s an exceptionally risky question. No matter what place you name, they wouldn’t like it”, but even so, he answered, “Dokona no Wakayama (Where is Wakayama)”.

On the top of Tsutenkaku in the stage’s background, a flag with the character ‘さ (sa)’ on it was put up for the movie and on stage, Biliken-san, the mascot of Tsutenkaku appeared wearing an outfit with ‘さ (sa)’ on it. A mood akin to the catchphrase of the movie, “history’s greatest farce”, was floating around in the event and Nikaido enthusiastically spoke of the movie’s charm, saying, “It’s a rather absurd movie, but it will eventually reaffirm your own identity and local love”.

I spoke a little bit about this today while on-air too but
this afternoon, Endou-san will be the MC for “Nihon Saitama-ka Keikaku in Osaka (Japan Saitama-fying Plan in Osaka)”, the event for Tonde Saitama the movie which will be releasing on Friday, 22 February.

It was held at Shinsekai’s Spa World, and it seems like it was very exciting with Nikaido Fumi-san and GACKT-san’s attendance!
GACKT-san’s handshake was apparently powerful.

If a Kansai sequel was to be made, Nikaido-san would entitle it “Tomeru de Biwako (Stop, Lake Biwa)”, while GACKT-san will name it “Dokona no Wakayama (Where is Wakayama)”.

The event for Tonde Saitama, the live-action movie adaptation of the gag manga by mangaka Maya Mineo, known for Patarillo!, was held on the 13th at Spa World Sekainodai Onsen (Naniwa-ku, Osaka) and was attended by lead stars Nikaido Fumi and GACKT.

GACKT, who arrived on the specially set up stage backed by Shinsekai’s landmark, Tsutenkaku, looked back on his first role playing a high schooler and spoke of when he got the offer, saying, “I immediately declined. Right there and then, I said, ‘High schooler? No, no, no.’ and after that, I was told that I was chosen by Master Maya Mineo (so I accepted it). I love Master Maya’s work, you know, I’m a fan”.

The event on this day is called, “Nihon Saitama-ka Keikaku in Osaka (Japan Saitama-fying Plan in Osaka)” and so the staff put up a flag featuring the character ‘さ (sa)’ at the top of Tsutenkaku. Having that ‘Hitachi Social Innovation’ suddenly change and just as I was expecting ‘Saitama’ to appear, it’s just ‘さ (sa)’ (smiles)”.

He also said, “The title specifies Saitama, but I believe it exists in other areas too. I think that absurd things that feels as if it relates to you happen a lot. By all means, if you can laugh out loud which saying that it’s lame, then you would’ve made the utmost effort that we put in worth it. Please do enjoy it”. The movie will be released on 22 February.
