When playing Nobunaga, I was especially conscious of speaking in a lower tone than usual and expressing his strength as the Demon Lord of the Sixth Heaven, as well as the nervous and intimidating atmosphere that keeps others at bay. Because of the role I was preparing for, I spent the entire time filming thinking that I shouldn’t get along with the other cast members, so I may have looked bad (lol) Director Takeuchi said, “As a Japanese “I want you to play the coolest Oda Nobunaga in the movie,” he said to me at the beginning of filming, and to be honest, I didn’t think there was a problem with that. (Laughs) Director Takeuchi can be described in one word as a “human toy box.” I have a picture of the completed form in my head, and we move closer to that worldview. There were times when I didn’t understand the intention at first, but when I looked at the finished work, I realized that there was a good balance between the strength of the dialogue, the tempo and clarity, and the strength of the scenes.
