GACKT Official Blog update. Translation below:
I woke up.
It looks like I fell asleep without realising it.
My sense of time is completely messed up,
to the extent that it can’t be called jet lag anymore.
Although it’s dark, when I looked down at the city from the window, lots of people are still moving around.
I’m screwed…
I’ll remain in the room and continue working like this.
I don’t feel like going out tonight.
When morning came, I looked at the city and noticed that something was going on.
Tents were being set up here and there.
Maybe it’s because it’s the weekend today…
Before I went out, I went to the organic store near the hotel for a look.
The moment I entered the store, the words that slipped out the moment I set eyes inside were 【How cramped!!!!】.
Maybe it’s because it’s right in the middle of the city, but the extremely narrow passageway is hilarious.
It’ll be difficult to pass people.
But,
I’m glad that there are organic stores like these everywhere.
The foods and drinks these days contain too many extra additions.
Like this, your body will start to turn weird too.
In the past, people wouldn’t say that it’s unlucky to die at my age but
recently, there are people around me like my friends who are close to my age suddenly passing away.
It’s because they’ve caught illnesses that people aged 60 or 70 normally get.
Just as how the world’s environment is getting weirder,
people’s bodies and minds are turning weird too.
Although it’s announced that life expectancy is increasing,
that’s simply because the birth survival rate is increasing,
and not because people’s bodies are actually growing stronger than before.
There are too many people who are getting sick from being affected
by even the viruses and germs that have existed all this while.
It’s a scary era.
I got into a car and decided to cruise around the city.
After getting out of the traffic jam, the atmosphere felt good as I drove around for about 40 minutes.
Places like these suit me better than the city centers.
It would be even better further into the suburbs though.
The driver said that
you can’t walk here at night because security is bad…
Hmm,
based on appearance, the atmosphere is good though…
It’s quite difficult.
Such a feeling is one that I can’t understand unless I try staying here.
This is from the time
when I lived in Philippines’ Cebu though.
Initially, wherever I went, I couldn’t help but feel that security was bad everywhere.
Maybe everything had a dangerous atmosphere.
However,
after staying there for about a month, I started to know which areas are safe and which aren’t.
My eyes got used to it, and I came to notice slight differences.
At that time,
I compared my feelings with the information from my local friends,
and was surprised to find that they pretty much matched.
Well,
I suppose that’s what it means to stay there.
You won’t know until you try living there.
And a phrase that is often said is, 【there’s no place like home】.
I wonder if it’s when both your eyes and tongue has gotten used to it…
Or is it giving up in terms of taste.
Tonight, to have an early meal, I went to a Chinese restaurant in the suburbs but
most of the restaurants on that street don’t take reservations.
This is bad.
It’s definitely possible to do that for subsidiaries of the hotel
or fine dining restaurants but
the Chinese restaurants don’t allow reservations unless you have 5 people or more,
and I was rejected by all of them.
In other words, I had to dine as a walk-in guest.
For the first time in a long while, I waited outside the restaurant.
I wonder how long it has been since I’ve waited to enter a restaurant like this…
Surprisingly, it’s not bad.
I went in with my friends, and the seats were were assigned were, in any case, small.
It’s so cramped that I thought, “Is this French?!”.
And the extremely overwhelming blandness…
Mm, American… I guess.
How odd.
My staff did a lot of research but…
Mm, I guess it’s useless.
Well, if you’re in America it’s like this.
This can’t be helped too.
It’s pointless to expect a certain level of food from the West.
I’ll just be thankful that it’s better than Europe.
When I was about to leave the restaurant, a girl who was working there ran up to me.
『I’ve been a fan since a long time ago!』
Mm, how odd…
Even though I’m in disguise.
I wonder how she knew…
I’ve still got much to learn too.
