GACKT Official Blog update. Translation below:
Yesterday, I went to Camui♂Gakuen’s Gakuen fest that was being held in Toyosu but
honestly speaking from the bottom of my heart, in one word, I was surprised.
Their quality has risen to an impressive level…
I wondered how they were able to change this much in this short period of time but
if it’s that Student Council President, I suppose it’s possible.
Even so,
they really put on quite a show on stage.
Honestly,
I want to give a round of applause to those guys
who gave their all to this extent to make things enjoyable.
I thought, so I guess this is what they mean when they talk about putting your body on the line…
I could not help but feel moved.
I’ve been in this industry for 23 years too but
the fact that they are able to do it to this extent
makes the words 『Wooooaahh… Amazing…』
fall out of my mouth on and off.
That surprised me.
This time, I decided to secretly watch them in the morning from the morning greetings and
an air of tension was brewing everywhere.
The executive committee members’ faces look good too.
I could tell that they will do well on the whole.
Such times will make the live and the festival really good.
That’s because
the passion of the fans who have arrived before the live begins has changed.
This time as well, the passion of the many students who have gathered
has already heated up before the live begins.
The sales department that was outside was pretty exciting too.
Led by the students called F9,
all the executive committee members were serving their 【hospitality】 with smiles.
This spirit of service is one to emulate.
Such detailed thoughtfulness will increase the passion before the live.
Actually, even when the Gakuen Fest has begun, that passion did not cool off,
and they really showed me great excitement.
The first part where the F9 students put their bodies on the line (I wonder if it’s alright to call it that…)
showed me a lot of excitement.
The Student Council President only sat there but
it’s really wonderful that they were able to get things this exciting.
Even when the second part (I suppose…) started,
that enthusiasm didn’t stop at all.
From the very first song, they showed me an excitement I cannot explain.
『Today is exceptionally exciting…』
Even my staff who was watching with me was moved.
The Student Council President was in high spirits, as usual, but
I admire the performance by the other students as well.
Especially the vocalist of Balue Hearts, who put his body on the line and strove hard.
I didn’t really understand what he was saying during the MC that got cut off halfway but…
Even so, it’s a big deal.
Despite that he isn’t originally a vocalist…
It’s just that, this is something I always thought but, there’s an answer that I’ll definitely give
when someone asks me what’s the most important thing for the position of a vocalist.
Most people will answer 【being good at singing】 but that’s not it.
Instead,
it’s only natural that a vocalist is required to be good at singing
but it’s not the most essential element.
Well then,
what’s the essential element for a vocalist?
That is
to not only have stage presence but also the power to pull in the audience.
In other words, it’s the 【absolute pulling power】.
If I were to say it in a more exaggerated manner, it’s a presence that engulfs the entire venue.
Often, people call this charisma,
but I don’t think that I am a person who had charisma from the very start.
You have to firmly recognise your required role when standing on stage,
and while always being conscious of it on stage,
it’s something that you have to keep practising over and over without giving up.
The world is filled with people who are good at singing.
However,
the question of whether or not those people have that pulling power or not is a completely different thing in the first place,
in other words, they may only give the impression that they’re good at Karaoke.
On the other hand,
there are top-class vocalists who may be bad at singing.
Even if their singing ability isn’t that great,
vocalists who can attract the entire venue exist.
I believe that this is the factor of whether or not someone has the disposition of a vocalist.
There’s no need to compare between a studio musician
and musician who sings on stage.
In the first place,
it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that the competition is basically different.
It’s not even about who greater.
I suppose it’ll be easy to understand if I say that their goals are different…
Of course,
for a stage musician,
in addition to having a presence that lets them take control of the entire venue,
if they are overwhelmingly good at singing as well I don’t have any complaints though…
In fact,
I suppose the reality is that among stage musicians
there isn’t really anyone who’s that good at singing…
I’ve strayed from my topic but,
I would like for him to properly work on
increasing his own presence and pull anyway.
I feel quite an amount of potential.
In the blink of an eye, the live ended.
When you feel this feeling of 【ending in a blink of an eye】,
I suppose that really means that the live was a great time.
Yesterday’s Gakuen Fest was really great.
Now then,
I wonder how tonight’s Gakuen Fest will turn out?
Tokyo will be the last.
I went around the sales department earlier but,
despite that it was unfortunately raining, it was still pretty exciting.
I sincerely hope that it’ll be a wonderful Gakuen Fest.
Anyway, even so!!!
Despite that he called me to come, the Student Council President didn’t come and say hi…
Looks like unless I fix him at least once it’s useless.
