OIMF.JP: (Extract) Famous stars parade down the bright red carpet under sunny weather

On April 23 (Sun), the red carpet was held at Naha’s Kokusaidori. A total of 1,099 people, in around 214 groups, walked down the red carpet which stretched further than it did last year. It was raining the previous day which raised concerns about this day’s weather but it was wonderfully sunny, and the event was held in a comfortable climate.

Despite that it was around an hour before the event starts, Kokusaidori was filled with the enthusiastic audience who waited there eagerly. After the mayor of Naha, Shiroma Mikiko’s opening address, the first celebrities to appear were Slimclub from Okinawa, who gave their all to liven up the movie festival. After them, not only did popular celebrities from Yoshimoto make appearances, but even GACKT-san from the movie 『Karanukan』, and even Supernova’s Sungje, who acted in a Korean movie for the first time, among many other prominent faces, slowly walked down the gorgeous red carpet.

Last to appear were President Osaki Hiroshi from the executive committee, the promotional figure for the film festival Miyagawa Tamako, and mayor of Naha Shiroma Mikiko. President Osaki greeted 「Haisai (hello)」, using Okinawa’s dialect, and gave his thanks to the mayor who gave the suggestion, 「Please make it the world’s longest red carpet」, following which he spoke of his vision for the movie festival, saying 「I hope that this movie festival will continue to be organised for many more years in the future」. From the city’s mayor came words of gratitude,「Everyone’s smiles shone, making this a very happy event」 she said, and the grand red carpet came to an end.
