ItalianoTom Hiddleston & Brie Larson Interested in Golden Gai Recommended by GACKT
「Kong: Skull Island」which depicts the origin of the king of apes King Kong, and was produced by the 「GODZILLA」 movie production team, and had it’s Japan premiere on March 15 at Tokyo’s TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku, where the its headlining stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, and Samuel L. Jackson, joined in on the special stage that was set up. GACKT and Sasaki Nozomi of the Japanese dubbing cast were also there, showered in around 1,200 fans’ cheers.
In 1973, an expedition team that was sent to the mysterious Skull Island encounters Kong and other gigantic monsters which live on the island, throwing them into a desperate fight for survival. Hiddleston, who has a wide range of movie activities from「Avengers」to「High-Rise」, acts as the team leader and mercenary Conrad, while Larson, who won an Oscar of Best Actress in「Room」, acts as the war photojournalist Weaver, while Jackson acts as the US army lieutenant colonel who escorts the expedition team, Packard. The movie was released in the US on March 10, and debuted at number 1, raking in 61 million dollars in the opening box office and start off as a huge hit.
In front of the venue, a 120.1-metre long orange carpet called the Godzilla Road was laid out, and the cast arrived on it one after another starting with Tom Hiddleston, who was visiting Japan for the first time, and the moment the fans got a glance of him, they leaned over the barricades and got into a frenzied state. The cast who were visiting Japan happily responded to the requests for pictures and autographs despite the cold weather, and even when they went over the scheduled time, they dedicatedly continued the fan service. Behind the cast who stood on the special stage, a huge Kong figure appeared and Hiddleston’s and Larson’s jaws dropped, while Jackson became excited and looked elated as he started taking photos with his smartphone. Hiddleston said,「Thank you for the warm welcome. Arigatou gozaimasu! I’m also very excited to be standing below Godzilla」, looking up at the figure of Godzilla atop TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku as he gave his greeting. He then smiled as he said,「Everyone is so kind and friendly, and the food here is delicious! I’ve had some sushi and sashimi」.
