【Event Report】GACKT met his fans face-to-face ＜”Only for us men who have no girlfriends” X’mas Premium Event＞

On December 20 (Tue), an X’mas event by GACKT’s NicoNico Official Channel 「OH!!MY!!GACKT!!」 was held at Roppongi nicofarre.

As per the name of the event, ＜OH!!MY!!GACKT!! Presents “Only for us men who have no girlfriends” Live & Talk X’mas Premium Event <Yeay, a men’s only 『Kuri… Smash!』』>＞, it’s a premium event that can only be attended by men who have no girlfriends for Chirstmas. The venue was packed with fans who fulfilled those conditions, filling the venue with manly enthusiasm. In addition, the event was broadcasted via Nico Live for the fans and women who were unfortunately unable to join in. Lots of comments were also sent in through the broadcast.

At the start of the event, MC Baru (ex.DuelJewel) announced, 「Our big bro!」 and rarely heard deep-voiced cheers burst out… Unexpectedly, GACKT strolled into the venue from the floor entrance instead of the stage itself. As GACKT stood at the front and looked around him, he broke into a smile at the sight of an entirely men-only audience. With the fans in the front row no more than 50cm away from him, it is an event that lets them feel like they’re almost face-to-face with GACKT.

The event was split into two parts, and each talk portion proceeds with answering questions that were sent in via e-mail. As GACKT gave straight honest answers to worries about sex, theories on picking up girls, worries about love, and more, the audience nodded in agreement and applauded numerous times. Furthermore, the fans at the venue got to exchange opinions directly with him. GACKT’s words seemed to have deeply embedded themselves in the hearts of the fans who can’t find girlfriends or have become passive in romantic affairs.

Of course, in the middle of the talk, he performed songs too. In one portion, he sat on stage and strongly sang Nakashima Mika’s 「Yuki no Hana」 and a sad love song from his own repertoire 「LAST SONG」. The image of him sitting before the fans, delivering each note as he sang and saying “Sing to your girlfriends one day”, left a deep impression. The typical 「men-only live」 will consist of intense setlists but, this event went with a performance that is mellow and fills your heart.

The second part is limited to 「OH!!MY!!GACKT!!」 members, where an even more heated discussion unfolded. Now, GACKT, who feels that work is very enjoyable, faced the fans in the venue and advised them, saying, 「You can’t be like this. Be it love, work, or friends, a guy who can find the balance in all of them is the coolest. I’d like for you to find a partner who you can be with together for your entire life.」.

Also in the second part was section called 「The penitence of us men who have no girlfriends DE HELL BALL」. Here, the fans in the audience confess their penitence while taking on GACKT’s training method of dropping a heavy ball, called the “hell ball”, onto their abs. While he watched the fans who took on the challenge and ended up in agony from the power of the hell ball, GACKT said 「(they’re) so bad at it that it’s funny」 as he burst out laughing.

Not only was there a talk portion about love in the second part, GACKT also shared his thoughts about what he feels now, what he’d like to convey the younger generation, and other things that was only said in this program. Fans listened intently to the words spun by GACKT about a person’s way of life and his thoughts towards life which resounded in, not only the “men who have no girlfriends”’ hearts, but everyone’s as well.

Looking at these fans with their feelings, GACKT also suggested that he would like to hold 「men-only」 or 「women-only」 lives in the near future. When GACKT said that he would like to plan for lives that everyone can enjoy together, a big cheer resounded from the crowd.

Then, he performed Ayaka’s 「Mikazuki」, and the fitting-for-Christmas 「December LOVE SONG」. 「December LOVE SONG」 was turned into a beautiful piano arrangement, and not only the fans on the floor, but even the fans tuning in on Nico Live were moved by his gentle and unconstrained singing.

At the end, GACKT said, 「Being able to interact like this in such a close range is also because of fate. If you were able to take something home from this, it would give meaning to my life thus far.」, and with that, the event that hopes to help the fans in the venue grow into “good men” has concluded.

Just as GACKT said, this event that gave fans access to speak face-to-face to GACKT was a special one. I wonder if the fans not only received guidance in love from GACKT, but also gained something even bigger than that. You can probably say that the passionate words shared during the event were like a special Christmas present from GACKT.
