GACKT Holds Guerrilla Live in Shinjuku! Sales Proceeds of 「Barista GACKT Model」to be Donated to Kumamoto

GACKT, whose new album 『LAST MOON』 will be released on 27 April, held a special guerrilla live at Tokyo’s Shinjuku Station Square on the 19th. This event is to commemorate the launch of the coffee machine 「Nescafe Gold Blend Barista GACKT Model」, which is a collaboration between Nestle and GACKT.

Despite that it was a weekday afternoon, more than 500 people were gathered at the location. When it passed 12 p.m., the band members appeared on stage, followed by GACKT who was dressed in a costume with distinctive black wings. Amidst the cheers that rang out, he performed 「ARROW」 which is also recorded for the album 『LAST MOON』. The powerful band instrumentals and his distinctive voice resounded through the streets of Shinjuku.

True to his nature, his first words were 「How’s everyone? I, GACKT, have collaborated with the Nescafe Gold Barista so, everyone buy it」. Continuing, he said 「There was an earthquake in Kyushu and even now they’re having a difficult time… … I spoke with the staff and president of Nescafe, and we decided that all the sales proceeds from the GACKT model will be donated in full. Everyone has a part that they can play so. It’s alright even if the gesture isn’t a big one, the small things count as well so, even just a little bit done is good so let’s do it. Everyone let’s deliver our enthusiasm to Kyushu, alright」, when he ended, around 2000 members of the audience gave a thunderous applause. He performed one more song from his new album, and later left the stage after saying 「We’ll meet again!」.

After the performance ended, we spoke to Nestle’s staff, who shared that the day before the live, they received a proposal from GACKT, asking if the proceeds can be donated to the Kyushu region, and seeing that it was a great proposal, Nestle’s side agreed to it. As soon as the sales proceeds have been collected, they plan to send the donations over through the Japanese Red Cross Society, and following the confirmation of timing and value of the donations, these information will be announced on Nestle’s homepage.

A limited 1000 units of the 「Nescafe Gold Blend Barista GACKT Model」 will go on sale from the 19th through the Nestle Online Shop. We hope that you do get your hands on the limited edition model which was made with GACKT’s feedback on it, including the design.
