The LAST VISUALIVE.
Right now, even you all should know
that the filming for it
has entered the most exciting part
It can be said that this is cinematic, dramatic,
and even occasionally musical.
But whichever it is, there are no suitable words
to describe this VISUALIVE.
That is because,
there isn’t anyone who has
come up with a way to express a VISUALIVE.
Film, music, acting, a story,
the fusion of all of them using rock
to express the『Sin & Fragility』
that humans possess,
that is the excitement of a VISUALIVE.
Of course,
aside from me,
there has yet to be another artiste who can pull this off.
There are a few reasons for that.
Preparation itself takes up quite a lot of time,
quite an amount of budget is required,
and more than anything,
its because they have to build a story that is the axis of everything and realise it,
and it is pretty difficult to apply music to it.
This is,
definitely because I’ve been helped
by the various activities that I’ve been part of until now.
Until now, I’ve done 200 stage play performances.
With Nemuri Kyoshiro, Secret of Yoshitsune I, Secret of Yoshitsune II.
And,
including filmmaking, there are no limits
to expression,
so I can bring to life
the artistic world-view that I have
where there are no boundaries between music, film, and acting.
As an expressionist
I believe from the bottom of my heart
that the existential value of the artiste
lies in breaking through all borders.
That’s why,
with someone like me
unless my business partners are armed with creativity
we can’t fight together.
This,
is something that they say on a regular basis.
And sometimes,
I have to bid farewell to people that I have worked with
but cannot catch up in terms of creativity,
even among those people who I have worked with for years,
it is something that happens often.
That’s why,
those who have walked with me until now,
have to be unique and continuously raise their level of skill
for the sake of truly pursing what they do or say.
Amongst them,
is my masseuse who is my right-hand man, and has always fought by my side,
said in 2014 that he wanted to invest several hundreds of million yen and make a stage play,
it was at the same time as when I was doing the stage play「Secret of Yoshitsune Ⅱ」.
For that stage play, I worked on everything
from the script to the music, and the acting, directing, but
because we were making full use of projection mapping
and even LED,
many of you made your way down to the theatres for this work.
My masseuse was also involved in this「Secret of Yoshitsune」
as a supervisor.
My masseuse said to me,
「Waka,
I’ve been exceptionally inspired by Secret of Yoshitsune.
To continue with Waka from here on,
if I’m going to produce a stage play of my own
GACKT’s brain is important.
I’ll create a stage play that will transcend Secret of Yoshitsune so,
please let me borrow Waka’s stage production team and YOU!」
With that, my masseuse invested several hundreds of millions,
and with my stage production team
and Secret of Yoshitsune actors,
projection mapping team,
and music producer together with YOU,
what was produced after the long months for of one and a half years is
the stage play「Honganji」.
This stage play has my tastes sprinkled in,
and makes use of innovative production mapping.
The actors are unique,
with my favourite from the theatre world, Jinnai Takanori.
Former top star of Takarazuka Revue, Mizu Natsuki.
From Kabuki, Ichikawa Kudanji.
Originally from Hikaru Genji in the music industry, Moroboshi Kazumi.
And also from the K-POP industry, Supernova’s Kwang Soo and Se Yong.
And also the dancers and actors from Secret of Yoshitsune.
From 20 January this year
I’m glad that after performing at Osaka’s Shinkabuki, and Nagoya’s Chunichi Theatre
every time there’s a standing ovation,
it has been an amazingly outstanding opening.
It is a stage play that was extremely risky and challenges
those who have inherited my way of expression.
The performances in Tokyo are
starting tomorrow, 17 February, and running until 27 February,
and will finally be unveiled at Roppongi EX Theatre.
Tomorrow, I too,
will go to the venue on its first day
and give my encouragement
to the friends of mine who are like my family.
You all come and support them too.
And again,
maybe when these brains come together
we’ll be able to make
my GACKT stage plays.
-Dreams do come true,
If we only wish hard enough,
You can have anything in life
if you will sacrifice everything else for it-
