It was announced that for this time’s celebration of the 90th festival, musician GACKT will be taking paty as Uesugi Kenshin. This will be GACKT Kenshin’s third consecutive appearance in a row, and 7th appearance so far.

About this time’s appointment, Chairman Koyama said「I would like Uesugi Kenshin’s spirit of righteousness to be conveyed to the modern generation by GACKT Kenshin」. As of now, GACKT-san’s appearances are scheduled for August 23rd’s 「Kick-off Procession」 at 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon and the 「Re-enactment of the Kawanakajima Battle」 at 6 to 8 p.m. The city expect to spend around 19 million yen for the increase in bus services, and the security and appearance fees related to inviting GACKT.

GACKT has appeared as Kenshin 7 times in the past 9 years, Chairman Koyama said 「（GACKT Kenshin）After this year, he will be taking a break. However, it is not the last time, it is possible that there will be appearances in subsequent years」.

The Eve of the Festival will take place on August 21st.
